Critical Role Season Four Reveals the Fighters Party

Since the launch of Campaign 4, fresh DM Brennan Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with rich lore, a wide array of personalities, and a thrilling plot featuring angels, evil spirits, and malevolent powers growing in influence within the urban setting.

Warning: Key plot points for the latest installment of this adventure lie ahead.

The Warrior Group Unveiled

The latest chapter ended with a dramatic pause and presented the initial group of heroes who will split off from the central cast to undertake their separate journey, separate from the other two tables.

The Soldiers table includes Teor (brought to life by the voice actor), Thimble (Laura Bailey), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), the cleric (Sam), and Kattigan (the actor).

The Reason for Division

Given an extensive roster, it was obvious from the start that maintaining everyone at the same party would be impossible.

Hence, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Introduction, weaving together the personal journeys before branching into three smaller tables: Warriors, Schemers, and Explorers.

The Nature of the Soldiers Table

Per the Dungeon Master, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who enjoy a typically action-packed fight-heavy narrative style where peaceful solutions are scarce.

Initially, figures such as the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might seem unsuited, but the developments of the third episode show why these particular heroes are ideally matched for the combat party.

Motivations for Departure

First, the team understands precisely where to proceed after a intense first encounter with the antagonists.

A former ally of Thjazi Fang—whose demise kicked off the campaign’s events—manipulated the foes for his own means, invading the hidden lair, attacking Thimble, and stealing all the enchanted items to sell off.

The traitor then cleared his obligations and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, north of the city, with Cyd hot on his heels.

Individual Reasons

Moreover, each character has a individual motive to leave the city Dol-Makjar:

  • The rogue, as the close ally and closest confidant, desires revenge.
  • Kattigan is familiar with Timmony and warns that it is a hostile environment.
  • The strong character and Wicander, having disobeyed his relatives’ demands to kill the fighter and instead freed him, have nowhere else to go.
  • Yet, their reputation as key figures in House Halovar could help the party access places they usually can’t.
  • Moreover, Teor pledged a unbreakable promise to The savior for his deliverance and will now accompany him wherever.

Fugitives

Lastly, all of them are hunted by the authorities that control the setting for a multiple motives, making staying in the city no longer safe:

  • The agile adventurer and The character are known criminals.
  • The warrior and The cleric defied House Halovar and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
  • Teor is marked for death by the clan.

This means them few options but to journey toward the remote area in search of the antagonist.

Upcoming Developments

According to episode three’s Cooldown, we learn that the warrior group won’t be around in the upcoming installment, leaving the remaining eight participants to form the Questers and Planners groups.

Fans can anticipate learning which characters will be assigned to which table in the story’s last Overture episode, streaming live on the upcoming Thursday.
